JACKSON, Miss. – Jordan Bolden, senior right-hand pitcher, pitched a complete game to lead the Jackson State Baseball team in 16-4 victory over Alcorn State in game two of the series.
Bolden, a Madison, Miss. native, pitched 7.0 innings for five hits against, four earned runs, and four strikeouts Saturday afternoon at Robert “Bob” Braddy Field. His effort help the Tigers recover from the 5-4 loss in the series opener.
CJ Newsome, sophomore outfielder, led the Tiger offense going 4-for-4 at the plate for four runs and one RBI. Junior utility player Lamar Briggs and junior infielder Jesus led the team in RBIs with three each to aid JSU in the scoring effort. Briggs also tallied five at-bats, three runs, and two hits and Santana recorded four at-bats and two hits.
Saturday’s victory improves the JSU record to 14-8 overall and 5-3 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The two teams will conclude the series on Sunday, March 19. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
