Jackson, Miss. – Jackson State softball goes 0-3 on the weekend in their conference match-up against the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers. The Lady Tigers were unable to contain the power offense of the Lady Panthers losing 11-3 in game one and 7-1 in game two of doubleheader action on Saturday.
In game one senior Denisha Knight picked up two RBI’s when she homered in the bottom of the fifth inning pushing freshman Kaitlyn Elzie in for the score, giving the Lady Tigers their first two runs of the game. Senior Gayland Johnson tacked on another RBI on a double to push freshman Sierra Smith in. But the Lady Tigers couldn’t stop the offense of the Lady Panthers who would go on to win game two of the series 11-3.
In the final match-up of the series freshman Ariana Cruz picked up an RBI on a single to center field to push freshman Cheyenne Aplon in for the score giving the Lady Tigers their only run. The Lady Tigers go on the lose 7-1 to the Lady Panthers in game three.
Next up: The Lady Tigers will host Central Arkansas in a single contest at the JSU Softball Complex on Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 4 pm.
