HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Miguel Yrigoyen, senior right-hand pitcher, pitched eight innings to aid the Jackson State baseball team in a 9-3 victory over Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon. With Sunday win, the Tigers complete the sweep over the Bulldogs in the three-game series.
Yrigoyen, a Valencia, Venezuela native, pitched nine innings for seven hits against, three earned runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. His record on the mound improved to 4-2.
Lamar Briggs, junior utility player, led the Tigers at the plate to drive the JSU offense. Briggs went 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs.
CJ Newsome and Lakon Wilson also scored two runs each for the Tigers and Jesus Santana and Jarvis Warner collected two hits each.
Jackson State’s record now sits at 22-11 and 9-3 in the conference. The Tigers still hold the best overall record in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and are tied for the second best conference record.
The Tigers look continue their winning-streak as the take on Tougaloo College Wednesday, April 5. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. Come out and support Tiger baseball.
