JACKSON, Miss. – Mark Watson, junior right-hand pitcher, grabbed his third win on the mound during the Tigers 21-0 win over Tougaloo College Wednesday evening. The Tigers, now 23-11, were able to continue their five-game winning streak in the victory.
Watson, an Orlando, Fla. native, pitched 4.0 innings for two hits against, one walk and two strikeouts. Seberon Mackey enter the game to relieve Watson in the top of the fifth for two innings pitched. Two other pitchers enter the game. Francisco Cervantes pitched two innings and Jashanno Sweeting pitched 1.0 innings.
It was a great night for JSU at the plate. Jesus Santana and Sam Campbell collected three runners batted in each to aid in the Tiger scoring effort. Santana went 2-for-3 at the plate with one home run and two runs. Campbell went 3-for-6 at the plate for two runs.
CJ Newsome and Cornelius Copeland led JSU in runs with four each. Newsome also collected one RBI and a single hit.
The Tigers will be back in action on Friday, April 7 when they take on Mississippi Valley State in the first game of the three-game weekend series. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
