JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State baseball team outlasts Mississippi Valley State 9-8 in a ten-inning game for a seven-game winning streak. The Tigers now 25-11 and 11-3 in conference continue to have the best overall record in the Southwest Athletic Conference and currently holds the number two spot in the East Division.
Jose Tirado collected his third win on the mound this season, entering the game in the eighth inning. To earn the victory, Tirado pitched 2.1 innings with three allowed hits, no runs, one walk, and three strike outs. The junior right-hand pitcher is now 3-0 on the season with four saves.
Lakon Wilson led the Tiger offense with three RBIs on four at-bats, two hits (one home run), and two runs. CJ Newsome led the team in scored runs with three, going 2-for-4 at the plate.
JSU will close out the home series against Mississippi Valley on Sunday, April 8. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. Come out and support Tiger baseball.
