LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Jackson State men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in the McNeese State Spring Time Classic and the Tigers and Lady Tigers performed well during the event.
JSU highlights below:
In men’s action James Curtis earned a third place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:04.64. Azariah Foster and Joshua Hillard finished 3rd and 4th in the 110 meter hurdles with times of 14.46 and 14.48 respectively. Foster also claimed second place in the 400 meter hurdles (54.50). Jailen Bell finished 6th in the 100 meters (10.82), while Joshua Hillard placed 15th in the event (11.05). In men’s 200 meters action JaDarrius Perryman placed 7th (21.81) and Bell finished 10th (22.05). Perryman also finished 7th in the 400 meters (49.00), while William Carroll came in 4th in the 800 meters (1:56.44).
In field action Eddie Parish claimed 3rd place in the high jump (6’7”). Javauny Hyde and Jason Hursey finished 4th and 5th in the long jump. The Tigers 4×100 meter relay team finished 3rd (41.82) behind McNeese State and Grambling State.
In women’s action Latoya Gilding claimed 1st place in the discus throw (156’9 ¼”). She also finished 3rd in the shot put (44’1”). Jahelle Cato came in 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles (14.76) and 6th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.46). Kimberly Valmyre finished 6th in the 800 meters (2:41.19). Ky’Bria Spell came in 4th in the hammer throw (155’6 ¾”).
