JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State baseball team will be back on the road this weekend as it travels to Montgomery, Ala. to face conference rival Alabama State University. The Tigers, 26-11 overall and 12-3 in conference play, look to take the series to edge out the number one ranked Hornets. ASU, 17-16 overall and 13-2 in conference, currently hold the number one spot in the SWAC Eastern Division while JSU is ranked second.
The Tigers will be looking for a little payback for the 2-1 home series lost against the Hornets and JSU definitely has the means to do it.
The Tigers lead the conference in several categories including batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, and runs batted in. The Tiger bull pen also ranks first in the conference in earned run average, opposing batting average, and batters struck out.
Bryce Brown, junior outfielder, leads the Tigers with a .394 batting average and Miguel Yrigoyen leads the Tigers on the mound with a 2.80 ERA and a 5-2 record.
The first of three games of the series is scheduled for Friday, April 14 at 6 p.m. You can keep up with the action by monitoring the live stats: HERE
