Tigers Take Alabama State in Game One, 4-2

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Jackson State baseball team defeats Alabama State 4-2 in the first game of the road series. The Tigers (27-11 overall and 13-3) now equal the Hornets in conference to tie for the number one ranking.

Lamar Briggs and Wesley Reyes led the Tiger offense victory both going .500 at the plate. Briggs, junior utility player, went 2-for-4 at the plate for two runners batted in and Reyes also went 2-for-4 for two runners batted in and was also credited with a Tiger run.

Jordan Bolden, senior right hand pitcher, grabbed his six win on the mound to lead the Tigers in pitching victories. The Madison, Miss. native, now 6-2, pitched 5.0 innings for five hits against, one earned run, and four strike outs. Jose Tirado entered the game in the eighth inning to collect his fifth save on the mound. The junior right hander pitched 1.2 innings for one hit allowed and one strikeout.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, April 15 when they take on the Hornets in the second game of the series. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
