HAMMOND, LA. – Jackson State softball fell to Southeastern Louisiana in Tuesday’s single non-conference match-up at North Oak Park.
The Lady Tigers defense allowed four runs off two hits by the Lady Lions offense in the bottom of the opening frame. The Lady Lions added one run in the bottom of the third inning extending their lead to 5-0 over the Lady Tigers.
In the top of the fourth inning sophomore Alexis Hansard (.291) picked up RBI number nineteen off a single to center field that pushed teammate Tisha Lane across home plate. But the Lady Lions power packed offense would respond in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring five runs off four hits extending their lead to 10-1 over the Lady Tigers.
Freshman, Ariana Cruz (.254) picked up her eighth RBI of the season in the top of the fifth inning on a single to left field that pushed Jalicia Hughes across home plate. But ultimately the Lady Tigers would come up short falling 10-2 to the Lady Lions in the bottom of the fifth inning on a run-rule.
Next up: The Lady Tigers will host Alabama State in a three game conference series on April 21 and 22.
