HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Jackson State softball dropped the first game of its three-game conference weekend match-up against Alabama A&M at the Lady Bulldog Field. The Lady Bulldogs beat JSU 5-3.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning scoring two runs on two hits to lead the Lady Tigers 2-0.
In the top of the fifth inning Ariana Cruz scored off a Kaitlyn Elzie single to left field giving a much-needed jolt to the Lady Tiger offense. The Lady Tiger offense attempted a rally on a triple to right field by senior Victoria Nelson pushing home teammates Kaitlyn Elzie and Tisha Lane. On the rally the Lady Tigers would take the lead over the Lady Bulldogs 3-2.
The Lady Bulldogs would respond by scoring three runs off three hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead over the Lady Tigers 5-3.
Symone Williams who pitched 6.0 innings, suffered the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers.
Both teams return to action Saturday, April 29 to play the final two games of the series. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 12 pm. The second game is scheduled for 2 pm.
