TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Jackson State baseball team prevents three-game sweep at Florida A&M with a 9-7 victory over the Rattlers Sunday Afternoon. The Tigers outlast FAMU to improve their overall record to 32-14-1.
Miguel Yrigoyen, fresh off of graduating Saturday morning, was credited with the Sunday’s victory on the mound. Yrigoyen, now 8-2, pitched 6.0 inning for 11 hits against, seven runs (six earned), two walks and three strikeouts.
Jose Tirado entered the game in the bottom of the ninth for the save. The junior right-hander pitched 0.2 innings with one strikeout.
Jesus Santana hit his eighth home run this season to lead JSU at the plate. The junior infielder went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and two runners batted in.
Cornelius Copeland also had a great game at the plate going 2-for-4 at the plate with three runs.
Up Next: The Tigers will travel to Gary, Ind. to face the Chicago State Cougars in the inaugural Steel Diamond Classic on Tuesday, May 2. Then, JSU will bring the game back home to take on Alabama A&M in the final conference series of the 2017 season on Friday, May 5 – Sunday, May 7.
