HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Jackson State softball dropped the final two games of the season ending conference match-up against Alabama A&M at the Lady Bulldog Field. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Tigers 13-4 in game one and 6-0 in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader.
In game one the Lady Tigers saw the scoreboard first in the first inning when freshman Kaitlyn Elzie scored on a wild pitch. Senior Victoria Nelson added another RBI to the fold pushing Cheyenne Aplon across home plate to give the Lady Tigers a two-run lead over the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs would respond by picking up one run on two hits in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the third inning the Lady Tigers defense allowed ten runs on six hits by the Lady Bulldogs giving them a 13-2 lead. In the top of the fifth inning Cheyenne Aplon picked up an RBI on a triple to right field that pushed Ariana Cruz across home plate. But that wouldn’t be enough to lift the Lady Tigers dropping game one of the doubleheader 13-4 to Alabama A&M in the fifth inning on a run-rule.
In game two of the doubleheader offensively the Lady Tigers were unable to get on the board. The Lady Bulldogs scored six runs on fourteen hits to defeat the Lady Tigers 6-0.
