THIBODAUX, La. – The Jackson State baseball team dropped its last road game of the season, falling 4-2 to Nicholls State Wednesday evening. The Tigers close the 2017 regular season 36-15-1 as the prepare for the Southwestern Athletic Championship Tournament.
Senior right hand pitcher Joshua Santiago took the loss on the mound for the Tigers for a 1-4 record. The Puerto Rico native entered the game in the third inning to relieve starting pitcher Jesse Anderson. Santiago pitched 1.2 innings for three hits against and two earned runs.
Two other pitcher saw action Wednesday evening. Mark Watson pitched 2.2 inning and Francisco Cervantes closed the game, pitching 1.0 innings.
Junior outfielder Bryce Brown led the Tigers at the plate. The Walker, La. native went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runners batted in. Jarvis Warner led the Tigers in runs with two.
The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, May 17 when they travel to New Orleans, La. to participate in the SWAC Championship Tournament. The game time and opponent will be released as soon as its available.
