MOBILE, Alabama – The Jackson State University Division of Athletics helped officially kick off the Second Annual 5th Quarter Classic during a press conference to announce the event on Monday at Ladd-Pebbles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
During the press conference it was officially announced that JSU would take on the Tuskegee Golden Tigers for the first time in 24 years. JSU leads the series with a 2-0 edge over Tuskegee. In the last meeting between the two teams, JSU won 24-12 in 1993. The classic game pits two of the most successful HBCU football programs against each other. Tuskegee has a 677-363-49 record for a .644 winning percentage. Since 1946 the JSU Tigers have compiled a 451-281-15 record for a .614 winning percentage.
The classic and surrounding events – which includes a college fair, an alumni day party and a parade will take place during the second week of October and culminate with the game between JSU and Tuskegee on Oct. 14. For ticket and classic event information visit 5thquarterclassic.com.
