The Jackson State women’s basketball program held its annual Lady Tigers Basketball 3-Day Camp (June 13-15) last week at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center. Girls and Boys from our local community and as far as Wisconsin attended the camp. Head Coach Surina Dixon and her assistant coaching staff taught basketball fundamentals to their younger campers and offered advanced training to their seasoned campers.
Dixon on the Lady Tigers Camp
“We are always excited to help create new interest in the sport of basketball, especially for our young campers. We are also positively enthusiastic about developing our local student-athletes because it helps tremendously with being able to bring local student-athletes with exceptional athletic and academic talent who can make a significant impact on the court, in the classroom, and later in the community as a productive citizen and leader. At the end of our camp, we take our campers on a tour of our beautiful university. We let them know that JSU has so much to offer and can provide the quality educational training necessary to building a better future for themselves and their families. We also encourage our campers to bring their families to our games, so they will have an opportunity to not only share in our fun and excitement but dream about potentially being a future JSU Tiger and a proud graduate of THEE Jackson State University.”
The campers also participated in games and contests during camp activities. Several campers received trophies, certificates, and T-Shirts for their outstanding team and individual accomplishments.
