SWAC SAAC Spotlight: Brandy Terrell, Jackson State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – This week’s installment of the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) spotlight features Jackson State women’s golfer Brandy Terrell. The rising junior will serve as the SAAC’s Vice President for the 2017-18 academic year.

The Houston, Texas native completed a questionnaire during which she discussed her goals and aspirations for her post-undergraduate studies and as one of the leaders of the SWAC SAAC.

Q: What is your major?
A: Special Education.

Q: What are your plans after you earn your college degree?
A: After graduation I plan to continue my education with Jackson State University while pursuing a career in American Sign Language Interpreting.

Q: What are your goals as one of the leaders within the SWAC’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee?
A: As Vice President, I look forward to being a part of a committee that works to develop and enhance student body governance. It is my goal to represent SWAC SAAC by actively participating in the legislative process and promoting its platform on campus and in the community. Lastly, I hope to help be the voice of all athletes by carrying out the goals of SWAC SAAC.

Q: What has been your favorite part about being a student-athlete at Jackson State and competing in the SWAC?
A:  I love how much I have grown and matured as a person at my HBCU. It has been a blessing to have the coaches and teammates I’ve encountered over the years to encourage and mold me into who I am today.
