The Southwestern Athletic Conference released its 2017 Volleyball Preseason All-Conference teams and predicted order of finish today and Jackson State’s Tyler Moorer was named to the league’s first team as a defensive specialist.
Moorer, a junior from Birmingham, Alabama played in all 32 matches for the Lady Tigers in 2016. She recorded three kills, 49 total attacks, 52 assists, 17 aces and 337 digs. She led the team in sets played and service aces. She also ranked No. 8 in the SWAC in digs. As a freshman (2015) she played in 37 matches and had five kills, and 395 digs.
JSU was selected to finish fifth in the SWAC in the preseason predicted order of finish. Alabama State was predicted to finish first and Texas Southern was chosen as the 2017 runner-up.
The Lady Tigers will open the 2017 season on August 25 when they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to play in the Southern Miss Invitational at Reed Green Coliseum.
