Marcus Hereford has been named as the assistant volleyball coach for the Jackson State Lady Tigers program. Prior to coming to JSU, Hereford taught at Lamesa Middle School in Lamesa, Texas (2014-2017). He also acted as a volunteer assistant volleyball coach (2014-2015) before being named head varsity coach at Lamesa High School from 2015-2017.
As head coach he led his team to the state playoffs for the first time in four years. His coaching experience also includes a four year stint as a head coach for a club volleyball team in Lubbock, Texas. Hereford is a 2013 Jackson State University graduate where he received his degree in Meteorology. As a student, he acted as a student assistant for the Lady Tigers volleyball team and was part of the 2011 and 2012 SWAC Championship teams.
The Lady Tigers open the 2017 season on August 25-26 when they participate in the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss. JSU will open its home season slate on Wednesday, August 30 at the T.B. Ellis Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
