Bryce Brown enters his third season as a member of the Jackson State baseball team.
Brown played and started in 56 games for the Tigers during the 2016 season. Brown maintained a .360 batting average with 186 at-bats, 57 runs, 67 hits (10 doubles, one triple, and seven homeruns), for 43 RBIs, 100 total bases, and a .538 slugging percentage. At the plate, he was issued 32 walks and 17 hit-by-pitches for a .492 on-base percentage. He stole 21 bases on 24 attempts and recorded 115 putouts and three assists for a .967 fielding percentage.
On the team, Brown ranked third in batting avg, fourth in slugging percentage, second in on-base percentage, third in runs scored, fourth in hits, fifth in doubles, second in homeruns, fourth in total bases, first in stolen bases, fourth in total base appearances, fifth in at-bats, second in games played, second in games started, third in fielding percentage, and fourth in putouts.
In the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Brown ranked fourth in batting avg, third in on-base percentage, sixth in runs scored, eighth in hits, seventh in homeruns, 10th in total bases, fifth in stolen bases, and sixth in total plate appearances.
In the nation, he ranked 50th in runs-per-game (1.02) and 22nd in on-base percentage (.492).
For his effort during the 2016 season, Brown was named to the All-SWAC second team.
Brown appeared in 44 games with 156 at-bats. He tallied 40 runs, 42 hits (5 doubles, 2 triples, and 1 home run), and 54 for a .259 batting average and a .346 slug pct. He also recorded 16 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. He ranked fourth on the team in runs and fifth in triples.
