CLINTON, Miss. – The Jackson State men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the 2016 Watson Ford Invitational Friday evening at Choctaw Trails.
The Tigers claimed a second place finish among NCAA Division I schools, while the Lady Tigers finished in fourth place.
In men’s action the Tigers finished with a time of 2:28:30.41, just behind the University of New Orleans (2:27:24.25). Three Tigers finished among the top ten. James Curtis came in fourth place with a time of 28:50.29, while Darrion Hampton and Eclecius Franklin placed seventh and eighth respectively. Rahim Aponte and Jacques Williams finished just outside of the top ten with 11th and 13th place finishes.
In women’s action the Lady Tigers posted a time of 2:38:25.09. JSU finished behind SWAC opponents Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn State and Southern. Stherline Silencieux had a stellar performance as she finished in second place with a time of 25:48.91. Akeilia Knight came in 16th place, while Kimberly Valmyre finished 22nd and Mohogany Antoine was 23rd.
