Miguel Yrigoyen enters his second season as a member of the Jackson State baseball team.
Yrigoyen appeared on the Tiger mound 16 times with 13 starts for a 4.61 ERA and a 9-3 record. He recorded 84.0 innings pitched, 79 hits, 59 runs (43 earned), and 98 strikeouts. Batters saw a .243 batting average against him.
Among the JSU pitching staff, he ranked first in wins, fourth in losses, first in batters struck out, fifth in appearances, first in games started, first in batters struck out looking, and seventh on the team in assists.
In the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Yrigoyen ranked first in batter struck out, first in batters struck out looking, third in wins, and second in games started.
Nationally, he ranked 44th in strikeouts per nine innings (10.5) and 43rd in victories.
Because of his effort, Yrigoyen was named to the 2016 All-SWAC Second team.
He joined the Jackson State men’s baseball team after graduating from Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. While at SCC, Miguel was named to the 1st Team of the All-American Academic teams for the 2015 season.
Miguel is the son of Jose Yrigoyen and Karina Gonzalez. He has two brothers, Alexander Yrigoyen and Diego Yrigoyen, and one sister, Andrea Yrigoyen.
