Brown attended Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, MS. He was a member of the Tiger football and baseball teams. He received 2015 All-Region honors in baseball and graduated with a 4.0 ranked third in his class. In his senior year, he was named Offensive MVP and maintained a batting avg. of .327, a 1.5 ERA, and recorded 12 steals and 30 strikeouts on the mound.
Brown is the youngest child of Richard and Portland Brown. He has one older sister Kimberly. His mom and sister played basketball at the University of Southern Mississippi, his uncle Larry McCaskill played football for Jackson State, and his uncle Todd McCaskill played basketball at Mississippi State.
