With only six games remaining in the regular season prior to the SWAC Tournament beginning May 24 in Atlanta, the Tigers are streaking, having posted three consecutive SWAC series wins. Jackson State (25-20) defeated Florida A&M in the final two series games May 6-8.

The Tigers hit .361 against the Rattlers, with Myles White, Daniel Bannon, and Jatavis Melton each with five hits in the series, with Bannon extending his hitting streak to a season-best 18 games. Ty Hill hit his sixth homer of the season in Friday's game, and Caleb Evans' grand-slam on Sunday sparked the final-game win as the Tigers also tied the season series with the FAMU at three wins apiece.

Ty Hill ranks third in the SWAC in batting average (.400), second in the SWAC and 11th in the nation in on-base percentage (.527), is third in the SWAC in on-base plus slugging% (1.192), is third in the league in slugging% (.665), and is tied for sixth in the league in doubles (15). Hill is also tied for seventh in hits (62), tied for third in triples (four), has a career-high six home runs, and is fifth in RBI (51).

Nationally, the Tigers are tied for 12th in scoring (8.8 runs per game), tied for sixth in triples (21), 22nd in total runs (396), and 16th in on-base percentage (.422). Jackson State is third in the SWAC in batting average (.309), and fourth in ERA (7.09).

The Tigers and Delta Devils (10-31-1, 4-25 SWAC) met in game two of the season in the Houston Astros Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, winning 14-1 in seven innings at Minute Maid Park in a non-conference matchup. JSU won the final two games of the three-game SWAC series at Magnolia Field on March 31-April 2. Davon Mims leads MVSU in batting average (.331).
