NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Jackson State baseball team lost at New Orleans 6-3 in a Tuesday night contest at Maestri Field.

The Tigers scored in the first inning for the third straight game. Back-to-back-to-back singles by Jatavis Melton, Daniel Bannon, and Ty Hill loaded the bases. With one out, Myles White walked to score Bannon for a 1-0 lead.

Trailing 4-1 after five innings, the Tigers (23-19) scored a pair of runs in the sixth without benefit of a hit. A walk to Myles White, followed by Jaelen Williams being hit by pitch, and Marshal Luiz reaching on an error loaded the bases. With one out, Cesar Saavedra's sacrifice fly scored White, before Williams scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Privateers (26-19) scored two runs with two outs in the seventh to extend the lead. The Tigers' ninth-inning rally came up short, as JSU loaded the bases with no one out but could not score.

Jackson State returns to action this weekend in a Southwestern Athletic Conference series hosting Florida A&M Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Braddy Field, with all games streamed on the Jackson State Sports Network.
