JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jackson State men's outdoor track athletes had solid performances in the NCAA East Regional.
In the long jump, Freshman Sherman Hawkins Jr.'s distance of 7.06 meters (23' 1 3/4") was his best in three attempts in the competition.
Shawn Collins competed in two events Wednesday night. In the 400-meter dash, Collins posted a time of 47.05 to finish in the Top 30 among nearly 50 competitors. In the 200-meter dash, Collins posted a time of 20.86 seconds.
Hawkins returns to action the high jump Friday at 1:30 p.m. CT.
