JACKSON, Miss. | Dorian McMillian led four players in double figures but it wasn't enough to hold off a second half rally from Winthrop in an 80-62 non-conference game at the Lee E. Williams AAC on Sunday night.
The two teams were tied at the half (32-32) after trading the lead four times and have the game tied five different time, while the Tigers led by as many as seven points with 9:26 left in the first half. However, Winthrop (3-3) used a 19-4 run to open the second half and push ahead 54-39 with 14:16 remaining.Â
McMillian led the way with 19 points and five rebounds, while Jayme Mitchell Jr. finished with 16 points, and Tamarion Hoover added 12 points off the bench hitting 4-of-6 from the floor including a pair of three-pointers. Devin Ree also added 10 points off the bench for the Tigers.
Jackson State finished the night shooting 42.9 (24-of-56) percent from the free throw line and 33.3 (9-of-27) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 62.5 (5-of-8) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Winthrop finished the night shooting 48.4 (30-of-62) percent from the floor and 36.7 (11-of-30) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 90.0 (9-of-10) percent from the free throw line.Â
Logan Duncomb led three players in double figures for Winthrop with 14.

Jackson State shot 43.3 (13-of-30) percent from the floor and 25.0 (3-of-12) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 60.0 (3-of-5) percent from the free throw line. Winthrop finished the first half shooting 38.7 (12-of-31) percent from the floor and 23.1 (3-of-13) percent from beyond the arc in the first half. They also shot 83.3 (5-of-6) percent from the free throw line in the first 20 minutes.Â
The Tigers finished the second half shooting 42.3 (11-of-26) percent from the floor and 40.0 (6-of-15) percent from beyond the arc, while also shooting 66.7 (2-of-3) percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Winthrop shot 58.1 (18-of-31) percent from the floor in the second half and 47.1 (8-of-17) percent from the free throw line. They also finished the second half shooting 100 (4-of-4) percent from the free throw line.
Jackson State assisted on 10 of its 24 baskets in the game, while grabbing 30 total rebounds (eight offensive).
