Saturday belonged to the Jackson State University football team as the Tigers earned a hard-fought 34-28 win over Prairie View A&M on Senior Day.
The Tigers' offense found momentum early and JSU jumped out to an early 24-0 lead.
"We played with an edge today and it was important that we started fast," JSU interim head coach
John Hendrick. "We lost the edge a little bit in the third quarter, but we got it back in the fourth quarter and finished the game on a strong note."

Romello Shumake with an eight-yard touchdown pass at 6:46 in the first quarter to open the scoring. On the kickoff, JSU forced a fumble and
Quitten Brown scored on a one-yard plunge and JSU led 14-0.
Christian Jacquemin converted an 18-yard field goal at 2:53 in the first quarter and led 17-0 after 15 minutes of play.
Jordan Johnson started the second quarter with a bang and galloped 59 yards to put JSU up 24-0.
In the third quarter, Jacquemin added a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter and Brown scored his second touchdown of the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
The Tigers dominated in the running game and totaled 206 yards. Johnson rushed for 74 yards and
Quitten Brown toted the ball for 19 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
Juavon Brown totaled 59 yards.
Keonte Hampton added six tackles and forced a fumble.
Ryan Theyard and
CJ Holmes each picked up interceptions.
JSU (4-4, 3-2 SWAC) travels to Alabama State next Saturday and close out the regular season at the school in Lorman, Mississippi.
