JACKSON – After assuming the head coach role in November, John Hendrick made it clear he wanted to upgrade the roster with speed and toughness. He did just that.
 
The Tigers signed 26 recruits that hail from Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and most importantly 10 from Mississippi.
 
"I'm really pleased how this class came together," Hendrick said. "We addressed needs at several positions and upgraded our roster. We signed 10 from Mississippi and several within the Jackson area, which is very important. We make it a point of emphasis to recruit kids from Mississippi. My coaching staff will visit every school in the state."
 
On Offense:
 
"I really, really love this group. We brought in offensive players that will provide instant depth and who will have a chance to play right away. What stands out about this group is the speed and how it will allow Coach (Ron) Dickerson (Jr.) to open up the playbook once it's installed in the spring."
 
On Defense:
 
"Toughness. Just a really tough group. I also like the athleticism they bring in and how they will fit into our offense. To play defense you need to have a chip on your shoulder and these kids will bring a great attitude."
