Jackson State Announces 2022-23 Women's Basketball Schedule

JACKSON, Miss.| Jackson State University head women's basketball coach, Tomekia Reed announced the 2022-23 women's basketball schedule, which includes a season opener with an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) competitor, three games in the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament in November and a home opener with a Big 12 opponent.

Jackson State ended the 2021-22 campaign 23-7 overall and 18-0 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. The Tigers' season concluded in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in a nail-biting loss to LSU. 

Jackson State will open its season on the road facing North Carolina (Nov. 9) in Chapel Hill. The Tigers will open play in the Preseason Women's Invitation Tournament (WNIT) with a visit to Colorado (Nov. 12). JSU will travel to Lubbock, Texas to take on Texas Tech (Nov. 15) and Louisiana (Nov. 16) to close out the WNIT. The Tigers begin a three-game road trip starting with UCLA (Nov. 25). Jackson State will then head to Oregon State (Dec. 3), then to Missouri (Dec. 11). JSU will host Big 12 opponent, Texas (Dec. 14), in its home opener at the Lee. E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center. The Tigers will close out their non-conference road slate at Washington State (Dec. 12) before returning home to host Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 23) before tapping into conference action.

The defending SWAC Champions will kick open conference play on the road at Alcorn State (Jan. 2). JSU will host games against Alabama State (Jan. 7) and Alabama A&M (Jan. 9) to open conference at home. The Tigers will head to Texas to take on Prairie View (Jan. 14) and Texas Southern (Jan. 16). JSU plays host to Bethune-Cookman (Jan. 21) and Florida A&M (Jan. 23), followed by a road trip to Louisiana for matchups with Grambling State (Jan. 28) and Southern University (Jan. 30).

Halfway through conference competition, JSU will take on Mississippi Valley (Feb. 4) at home before hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Feb. 6). Jackson State will travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on Florida A&M (Feb. 11), then to Daytona Beach, Fla. to face Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 13). The Tigers enter a three-game home stretch against Alcorn State (Feb. 18), Texas Southern (Feb. 25) and Prairie View (Feb. 27). JSU will close out the 2022-23 regular season on the road at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Mar. 2) and Mississippi Valley (Mar. 4).

The Cricket Wireless SWAC Basketball Tournament will be held in Birmingham, Ala. March 8-11.
