Miller was electric throughout the 2022 season, as among his numerous awards he has been named to several All-SWAC teams along with being named SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, BOXTOROW HBCU National Defensive Player of the Year, and Associated Press FCS All-American. He made 112 tackles (59 solo), with two sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, four quarterback hits, five pass breakups, and one touchdown.
Miller, a Buck Buchanan Award finalist as FCS Defensive Player of the Year, recorded eight+ tackles in a game seven times, including four 10+ tackle games. Miller tied a career-high with 19 tackles against Texas Southern (Nov. 5), made 17 tackles against Alabama A&M (Nov. 12), and 11 tackles at Alcorn (Nov. 19).
During his record-setting 2022 season, Sanders has been named to several All-SWAC teams while being named SWAC Offensive Player of the Year and BOXTOROW HBCU National Offensive Player of the Year. He set single-season school records for touchdown passes (40) and completions (344) while throwing for 3,758 yards (second highest in school history) and rushing for a career-high six touchdowns.
Sanders set a career with 438 passing yards against Miss. Valley St. on September 24 and threw a career-high 5 TDs twice in games against Florida A&M (Sept. 4) and Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 15). Sanders had nine games with 3+ TD passes this season (2 3-TD games, 5 4-TD games, 2 5-TD games), and six 300-yard passing games this season.
Hunter was named freshman All-America as an all-purpose player playing on both offense and defense. He made 20 tackles, two interceptions (one returned for touchdown), one fumble recovery, and 10 pass breakups. Hunter also made 18 receptions for 188 yards and four touchdowns.
In back-to-back games against Alabama A&M and Alcorn, Hunter made both an interception and caught a touchdown pass. In the Alcorn game, he scored on both offense and defense, returning a second-quarter interception for a touchdown. In the Celebration Bowl, he made five tackles and one pass breakup while catching four passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns, both in the fourth quarter including a 19-yard TD catch on the final play of regulation to send the game into overtime.
