As Jackson State University student-athletes achieved championship success in competition, the foundation was laid in the classroom.
"Our student-athletes continue to display that academic success and competitive success go hand in hand," said JSU Vice President / Director of Athletics

They have set the foundation for their individual career success, and we congratulate them on their accomplishments as they continue to raise the bar for Jackson State University."
In the spring 2022, more than 200 student-athletes attained at least a 3.0 grade point average. There were 203 student athletes who earned at least a 3.0, with 10 students earning 4.0 GPAs.
As a collective, Jackson State student-athletes combined for a 3.07 grade point average in the Spring 2022 semester. Of the 15 athletics units including cheerleading, 12 teams earned at least a 2.8 GPA during Spring 2022, led by women's volleyball with a 3.64 GPA, just ahead of women's bowling with a 3.62 GPA.
Those teams were followed by women's soccer (3.46), men's tennis (3.38), men's cross country (3.37), softball (3.30), women's track (3.06), women's cross country (3.02), women's tennis (2.99), men's track (2.97), and football and women's basketball (each 2.81).
For the 2021-22 academic year, Jackson State University student-athletes combined for a 3.2 grade point average, with 55 students earning degrees. Combining the fall and spring classroom performances, 12 teams attained at least a 3.0 GPA.
