Women's Tennis Ends Season In NCAA Tournament

AUBURN, Ala. – The 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference Champion Jackson State University women's tennis team ended the season Friday in the NCAA Tournament losing in the first round at Auburn.
 
The Lady Tigers fell 5-0 to #13 national seed Auburn to conclude the season with a 17-7 record.
 
JSU battled through nerves in the early going, losing the two doubles matches. The #1 team of Sherine Salem and Paula Arcarons lost to Auburn's Selin Ovunc and Ariana Arseneault 6-1, while the #2 team of Tyra-Nicole White and Daniela Ramos lost 6-0 to Georgie Axon and Adeline Flach. In the unfinished doubles match, the Jackson State #3 team of Zeina Shabaan and Natalya Ogunwale were trailing 4-2 to Carolyn Ansari and Madeline Meredith.
 
In singles action, White lost to Ansari 6-0, 6-0, and Ogunwale lost to Flach 6-1, 6-2. In two other matches, Arcarons fell to Arseneault 6-0, 6-2, and Shabaan lost to Yu Chen 6-0, 6-2.
