Following the tough loss at home to Alabama State, the Tigers are looking to rebound on the road against Valley in a game that historically the Tigers have always done well in. Jackson State is looking to carry that great defense on the road.

The Tigers have forced at least one turnover in each game this season except one. That includes ten interceptions, and Tim Steward, B.J. Washington, Ke'Vric Wiggins Jr., and Jaheem Hazel each have had two interceptions. Those 10 interceptions are good enough to be second in the FCS and top of the SWAC. Jackson State is fifth in the FCS in turnovers gained. The defense held Alabama State to just 91 yards passing, and their offense could only convert three third-down conversions in the game.

In five games this season, the Jason Brown-led offense has amassed over 400 yards of total offense, including 410 yards last Saturday. Brown completed 31 of his 46 passes for 228 yards, his fourth game of the season with over 200 yards passing. Desmond Moultrie led the way on the ground with ten carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Dylan Wasson continues to be an impact player for the Tigers, having made three field goals and seven PATs since joining Jackson State before the Alabama A&M game. Wasson is now fifth on the team in scoring with 16 points. Wasson made a career-long 46-yard field goal against Alabama State.

The Delta Devils (1-5, 1-2 SWAC) are coming into the contest off a 42-17 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, a game that saw Mississippi Valley State score the most points since a 42-32 win over Alabama State back on November 13, 2021. Valley had 414 yards of total offense in their game against Pine Bluff, and they only allowed the Golden Lions to convert four third-down conversions.

Ty'Jarian Williams, the team's first-year quarterback, led Valley with 19-of-29 passing for 265 yards and three touchdowns while connecting with nine different receivers. Williams also had 40 yards rushing.

First-year head coach Kendrick Wade, a standout wide receiver for Mississippi Valley State, leads the Devils. Wade joined a unique group in the SWAC to be head coach at the school where they played their college football. He joins Eddie Robinson Jr. (Alabama State), Fred McNair (Alcorn State), Raymond Woodie (Bethune-Cookman), and Jackson State's own T.C. Taylor.
