INDIANAPOLIS
- The Jackson State Department of Athletics continues to break records in the classroom as the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) data was announced on Wednesday. The announcement showed that the Tigers' overall GSR was 89 percent, the highest among all Division I HBCUs. This percentage is also the third highest in Mississippi, behind only Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

"Our student-athletes continue to make impressive achievements in the classroom," said Ashley Robinson, VP and Director of Athletics. "Our student-athletes continue to show an incredible commitment to academic success while also excelling in their different sports. We are proud of the work that our academic team is doing to aid our student-athletes in graduating and setting them on a course for long-term success."

Jackson State had four teams record a perfect GSR of 100 percent (Men's Tennis, Bowling, Women's Tennis, and Volleyball) and eight teams with a GSR over 90 percent (Baseball, Men's Tennis, Women's Basketball, Bowling, Softball, Soccer, Women's Tennis, and Volleyball.).

Today's figures reflect graduation numbers among student-athletes who enrolled at Jackson State from 2013-16. The NCAA has tracked GSR for over two decades, and student-athletes have surpassed the original benchmark goal of 80 percent.

Jackson State will honor 20 student-athletes who are earning their degrees on Friday with a stole ceremony. The stole ceremony will take place on Thursday, Dec. 7, when the Department of Athletics recognizes the student-athletes, and they will receive a JSU athletics stole to wear during the graduation ceremony.
