Dent inducted into Black College Football Hall of Fame

ATLANTA, Ga. | The Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCHOF) announced the 15th class in history with seven inductees including former Jackson State defensive back Kevin Dent.

Dent is the only Jackson State player in school history to be named a three-time All-American, and was also a two-time Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Defensive Player of the Year. He finished his career with 21 interceptions and during his sophomore season tied for the nation's lead with 10 interceptions – including returning a pair for touchdowns. Dent also helped the Tigers win 27 of 28 conference games.

Following his collegiate career, he was signed as an NFL free agent before playing in the World Football League and the Arena Football League.

He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

"The class of 2024 is a great showcase of some of the incredible football talent that has been produced from Historically Black Colleges and Universities," said Black College Football Hall of Fame co-founder and 2011 inductee Doug William. "The Black College Football Hall of Fame serves to honor those who paved the way for the game today and these men did just that."

Votes were tallied from the nine-member selection committee, comprised of prominent journalists, commentators, and historians, as well as former NFL general managers and executives, and from members of the BCHOF to determine the inductees.

Alongside Dent, the group consisted of Joe "747 Adams (Tennessee State), Antoine Bethea (Howard), Waymond Bryant (Tennessee State), Richard Huntley (Winston-Salem State), Lemar Parrish (Lincoln), and coach Eddie Hurt (Morgan State). The class was honored on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by the Atlanta Falcons.
