MONROE, La. | After a two-hour weather delay, Jackson State and ULM traded touchdowns through the first 33 minutes before the Warhawks were able to pull away for a 30-14 victory at Malone Stadium.
After Jackson State (0-1) tied the game at 14-all with 11:41 remaining in the third, ULM scored 17 unanswered points, including nine in the fourth quarter.
Jacobian Morgan finished 23-of-28 passing for 228 yards and a touchdown, and added 21 yards on the ground with a third quarter touchdown.
Ahmad Miller led Jackson State with 46 yards on the ground on nine carries.
The Tigers had seven different players catch a pass in the loss with
Travis Terrell Jr. recording six catches (on seven targets) for 45 yards.
Marvin Landy and
Rico Powers Jr. added four catches each.
Defensively,
Ashton Taylor led the way with 10 tackles and
Reid Pulliam eight.

Jackson State Notes
- The game was delayed two hours prior to kick for weather, pushing kickoff to 8:02 pm.
- Captains for Jackson State – Esaias Guthrie, Evan Henry, Fabian McCray, and Jeremiah Williams.
- Guthrie recorded the first sack of the season on the opening drive of 2024, sacking Booty for an eight-yard loss and taking ULM out of field goal range.
- The Tigers recorded their first explosive play of the season, a 41-yard touchdown pass from Morgan to Fortilien in the second quarter, tying the game.
- Matt Noll started the season off with a 57-yard punt in the opening quarter, averaging 51.5 yards per punt in the first half. He finished with four punts, averaging 50.5 yards on the night.
- Jackson State played 49 players in the opening half against ULM.
- Henry and Ke'Vric Wiggins Jr. returned to ULM after each began their careers with the Warhawks.
- Allen Walker blocked the final extra point of the game for the Tigers.
