MOBILE, Ala. | Jackson State piled up over 700 yards of total offense on Saturday night in a 57-24 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) victory over Alabama A&M at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in the Gulf Coast Challenge.
Jackson State (4-1, 2-0 SWAC) finished with 702 yards of total offense on 80 plays, including 388 rushing yards while also adding 314 passing yards. The total was the largest for Jackson State since amassing 638 yards against Mississippi Valley State in 2022, and is the third consecutive week the offense has totaled 500 yards or more (all wins).
JaCobian Morgan completed 70 percent of his passes on the night for 314 yards. He finished 21-for-30 with four touchdowns and was not sacked on the night. The graduate finished 201.9 QBR while connecting with seven different receivers in the win. Jameel Gardner Jr. led the way with eight receptions for 84 yards, while three other receivers finished with three each including Shemar Savage with 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ja'Naylon Dupree finished with three receptions for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Nate Rembert finished with three receptions for 45 yards.
Morgan led the rushing attack for Tigers, eclipsing the century mark with 120 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown, while Travis Terrell Jr. finished with 103 yards on seven carries. Meanwhile, Donerio Davenport and Ahmad Miller finished with 72 yards each with Davenport scoring a touchdown.
Quincy Ivory led the defense with 10 tackles including a tackle for loss and three quarterback hurries. Tymon Wells finished with seven tackles, while Jace Ward and J'Cori Hargon each finished with six with Ward adding his first interception.
Jackson State never trailed in the game, grabbing the lead with an early field goal before pushing it to double digits early in the first half.
