10 Tigers earn All-Conference honors

JACKSON, Miss. | The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) released the all-conference teams on Monday afternoon with 10 student-athletes from Jackson State represented on the the two teams.

The Tigers had five First Team selections led by redshirt sophomore running back Ahmad Miller who led the league in rushing with 1,027 yards. Miller averaged 6.6 yards per carry and 92.4 yards per game, while scoring five touchdowns on the season. He ran for a career-high 180 yards on 12 carries with a pair of touchdowns against Hampton [8.30], while he also ran for 165 yards against Florida A&M [11.1], 118 yards against Bethune-Cookman [11.15], 107 yards against Alcorn State [11.22], and 101 yards Southern [9.27]. Miller finished the regular season ranked in several NCAA categories including rush yards per carry [5th], rushing yards [17th], rushing yards [18th], and all-purpose [63rd]. He was also named BOXTOROW National Player of the Week and the SWAC Offensive Player of the Week two times.

He was joined on the first team by a pair of offensive linemen in Brian Williams Jr. and D'Andre Townes-Blue with the duo helping lead an offense that averaged 480.7 yards of total offense. The offensive line helped pave the way for three running backs to go over 500 yards rushing including a 1,000-yard rusher in Miller. They also helped lead an offense that finished the regular season ranked second in rushing offense, second in fourth down conversion percentage, fourth in total offense, fifth in third down conversion percentage, 11th in first down offense, 13th in sacks allowed, and 18th in scoring offense nationally. Townes-Blue averaged a grade of 94 percent at guard and recorded 22 pancakes/knockdowns, while Williams averaged a grade of 84 percent at the other guard and recorded 22 pancakes/knockdowns.

The trio was joined by a pair of defensive standouts on the first team defense that included defensive end Quincy Ivory and linebacker Reid Pulliam. Ivory, a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award and HBCU Player of the Year, finished the regular season with a team-high 64 tackles including 31 solo, while also recording 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. He also recorded an interception [against Alabama State], recorded five quarterback hurries, forced one fumble, and recovered two others. Ivory recorded eight or more tackles four times including eight against Hampton [8.30], 10 against Southern Miss [9.6], 10 against Alabama A&M [10.4], and a career-high 12 against Alabama State [10.11]. He recorded at least 0.5 sack in six games this season including a career-high two against Hampton [8.30], and recorded at least 0.5 tackle for loss in 10 games this season including a season-high 3.5 against Hampton [8.30]. The senior is ranked nationally in tackles for loss [20th], sacks [52nd], and fumbles recovered [93rd]; while he is ranked second in the conference in tackles for loss and third in sacks. This season he was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week three times and SWAC Newcomer of the Week three other times.

Meanwhile, Pulliam finished second on the team in tackles with 60 total tackles including 33 solos stops, and finished the regular season with 9.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also recorded one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries, while forcing one fumble, recovering another fumble, and recording a safety. Pulliam recorded seven or more tackles in four games this season against Hampton [8.27], Southern Miss [9.6], Mississippi Valley State [11.8], and a season-high 10 tackles against Grambling [10.25]. He recorded at least 0.5 tackle for loss in seven games including a season-high 2.5 against Bethune-Cookman [11.15], and recorded a sack against Grambling [10.25].

Despite missing the last four regular season games, graduate quarterback JaCobian Morgan earned Second Team honors after he completed 90-of-147 passing for 1,183 yards. He also threw for 11 touchdowns and just a pair of interceptions while completing 61.2 percent of his passes, and averaged 197.2 yards per game through the air. He also ran for 265 yards on 40 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Morgan threw for two or more touchdowns in three games before his injury including five against Alabama State [10.11] and four against Alabama A&M [10.4], while he also threw for 300 or more yards two times including 337 against Southern [9.27] and Alabama A&M [314]. He was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week three consecutive weeks [9.27-10.11], and was also named HBCU Player of the Week. Morgan was named BOXTOROW National Player of the Week twice, the first time the award was presented to the same player twice in the same season in 16 years.

He was joined on the second team by Nate Rembert who led the team in receiving with 42 receptions for 690 yards. He recorded seven touchdowns, averaged 16.4 yards per reception, and averaged 62.7 yards per game. He recorded multiple receptions in all 11 games and recorded four or more receptions six times including seven against Alcorn State [11.22]... Also recorded six receptions against Mississippi Valley State [11.8]. Rembert also recorded a touchdown reception in six games including two against Mississippi Valley State [11.8], and recorded 90 or more yards receiving four times including three 100-plus yards games. He also recorded 102 yards on five receptions against Southern [9.27], 126 yards on four receptions against Grambling [10.25], and 120 yards on seven receptions against Alcorn State [11.22]

The two were joined on the second team offense by offensive tackle Quaveon Davis who helped lead an offense that averaged 480.7 yards of total offense. The offensive line helped pave the way for three running backs to go over 500 yards rushing including a 1,000-yard rusher in Miller. They also helped lead an offense that finished the regular season ranked second in rushing offense, second in fourth down conversion percentage, fourth in total offense, fifth in third down conversion percentage, 11th in first down offense, 13th in sacks allowed, and 18th in scoring offense nationally. Davis averaged a grade of 88 percent, while recording 27 pancakes/knockdowns and allowed just 1.5 sacks.

A pair of defensive players were named to the Second Team defense including defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams and defensive back Kam Sallis. Williams ended the regular season as the top-graded HBCU defensive lineman by PFF after being double-teamed most of the year, and second-best FCS defensive lineman. He recorded 30 tackles in just nine games from his nose guard position, including 12 solo, finishing with 5.0 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. He also finished with five quarterback hurries. Williams had five games of at least four tackles including Alabama State [10.11], Grambling [10.25], Florida A&M [11.1], and Alcorn State [11.22]. He also recorded five tackles against Southern [9.27]. Williams recorded at least 0.5 tackles for loss in seven games, and recorded sacks against Alabama State [10.11] and Florida A&M [11.1].

Meanwhile, Sallis, an Aeneas Williams Award semifinalist, recorded 41 total tackles including 19 solo. He also recorded a pair of interceptions, two pass breakups, and forced one fumble.He also recorded five or more tackles four times including five against Tuskegee [9.13], Southern [9.27], Mississippi Valley State [11.8]. He also recorded seven against Southern Miss [9.6], and recorded interceptions against Southern [9.27] and Bethune-Cookman [11.15].

The individual awards will be announced on Tuesday morning. Jackson State will face Prairie View A&M on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. in the 2025 Pepsi SWAC Football Championship Game presented by GM.
