Jackson State edge rusher Quincy Ivory and defensive tackle Jeremiah Williams were each named Third Team All-American by FCS Football Central on Monday afternoon.
Ivory, the Southwestern Athletic Conference [SWAC] Newcomer and Defensive Player of the Year, was named third team after a season that he finished second on the team in tackles with 71 total including 33 solo stops. He also finished with 14 tackles for loss [72 yards] and six sacks [39 yards], while also intercepting a pass against Alabama State. Ivory recorded six quarterback hurries, recovered one fumble, and forced two others. He was named an HBCU All-American by BOXTOROW, while being named a finalist for the Buck Buchanan and HBCU Player of the Year Awards. Ivory recorded eight or more tackles four times including eight against Hampton [8.30], 10 against Southern Miss [9.6], 10 against Alabama A&M [10.4], and a career-high 12 against Alabama State [10.11].
He recorded at least 0.5 sack in six games this season including a career-high two against Hampton [8.30], and recorded at least 0.5 tackle for loss in 10 games this season including a season-high 3.5 against Hampton [8.30]. The senior is ranked nationally in tackles for loss [20th], sacks [52nd], and fumbles recovered [93rd]; while he is ranked second in the conference in tackles for loss and third in sacks.
This season he was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week three times and SWAC Newcomer of the Week three other times.
He was joined on the third team by Williams who finished the season with 35 total tackles including 16 solo stops in 10 games. He recorded seven tackles for loss [14 yards] and a pair of sacks [four yards]. The senior also recorded five quarterback hurries and a forced fumble while earning Second Team All-SWAC honors. Williams missed the season opener [Hampton] and missed the Tuskegee contest, but still recorded four or more tackles two times from his interior position. He recorded five tackles against Southern [9.27] and Prairie View A&M [12.6], and recorded four against Florida A&M [11.1] and Alcorn State [11.22].
Williams finished the regular season as the top-rated defensive lineman by PFF, and one of the top two defensive linemen in the country.Â
