Tigers defeat No. 25 Emmanuel, play five ranked opponents at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. | Jackson State competed in the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt over the weekend, where they faced five ranked opponents and defeated No. 25 Emmanuel. 

In Baker's play, the Tigers faced No. 10 Maryville, No. 25 Emmanuel, Oklahoma Christian, and Howard. They suffered a narrow loss to Emmanuel in an 882-890 defeat. Their lone win would come in a 967-851 result over the Bison in their final match of the day. 

Jackson State built on their momentum in the Traditional round on Saturday, going 3-2, with wins against conference foe Alabama A&M (869-849), William Smith (891-754), and Illinois Wesleyan (849-594). The Tiger's last two matches of the day were against tough competition in No. 12 Sacred Hart and No.5 Wichita State.  

The Tigers concluded the weekend against No. 18 University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Emmanuel and Marian. Jackson State defeated the ranked Lions 4-3 to close out their final regular season tournament.
