JACKSON, Miss. | The Jackson State men's tennis team secured a 7-0 victory over Co-Lin on Sunday morning at the JSU Tennis Center.
The Tigers (5-9, 3-1 SWAC) found momentum in doubles once again, clinching the doubles point for the second straight match. Alejandro Pinilla and Federico Pickenstainer started things out with a 6-0 display on court two. Co-Lin tied things up on court one. The duo of Jhoan Vaquero and Gokalp Ayar provided in the clutch and clinched the doubles point for the Tigers in a 6-0 decision.
Vaquero, Ayar, and Pickenstainer won their singles matches in straight sets with Pickenstainer claiming his victory in a tiebreaker in the second set, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Maas Schotanus and Ching Chang Chiu bounced back from their doubles defeat, winning their respective matches with 6-1, 6-0, and 6-0, 6-0 performances.
Pinilla secured the shutout for the Tigers in a hard-fought three-set battle. After dropping the first set 4-6, he bounced back in the second in a 6-2 decision. In the third set, Pinilla took over and tallied an emphatic 10-6 win, earning the Tigers' seventh win on the day.
