Women's bowling knocks off Sam Houston and UAB, finish 4th at Southern Queens

BATON ROUGE, La. | The Tigers defeated two nationally ranked opponents, Sam Houston State University and UAB, to headline their performance at the Southern Queens over the weekend.

On the first day of competition, the Tigers went 3-1 after finishing the day on a three-match win streak. They defeated the hosting Southern Jaguars 941-912, Alabama A&M Bulldogs 958-885, and the Grambling State Tigers 920-853.

Jackson State's best day came on Saturday in Traditional play as they defeated Sam Houston State 926-875 for their first win of the day. They followed that up with another win against a nationally ranked opponent, the UAB Blazers, in a 964-934 victory. They closed out Saturday with a 2-1 record, including wins over Alabama State (924-909) and Southern (1,022-923).

The Tigers, who were slotted in at number three to begin the day, finished at the fourth spot after going 1-2 on Sunday, including a win over Alabama A&M and two close losses to Southern.

Senior Faith Washington represented the Tigers in the top 10, placing in the seventh spot with a 199.00 average and 995 pin total in five games of competition.
