NEW ORLEANS, La. | Jackson State's women's tennis team saw its 2026 season come to an end in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship on Sunday afternoon as they fell to Alabama State in a 4-2 final.

Paula Corbalan led the charge as she battled through a few tough stretches against Diana Craciun to claim the first point for Jackson State in a 6-4, 6-4 decision. Junior
Helen Hernandez capitalized on her hot start to singles play at number five with a 6-3, 6-3 win to put the Tigers in the lead with a 2-1 score.
Alabama State's Jovana Petrovic responded by tying the score at two all after a 6-4, 7-6 victory at number six. The energy at the City Park Pepsi Center was at an all-time high as the final three courts were all pushed into three sets. Despite the Tigers' efforts, the Hornets claimed victory on court three to go up 3-2, before Kesmat El Tawil delivered the final blow, winning her match 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 to secure the SWAC title for the Hornets.
