HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | Jackson State's women's tennis team defeated the Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs 4-0 in an away contest on Saturday morning to extend their record in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play to 6-0.
The Tigers got off to a strong start with a solid showing from
Daniela Tovar and
Tiara Alvarez, who wrapped up their doubles match with a 6-3 decision. Shortly after, the duo of
Paula Corbalan and
Isabella Benavides also won their match with a 6-3 decision to secure the doubles point.
Jackson State carried that momentum from doubles into singles play as Alvarez completed her perfect day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Alabama A&M's Lavynia Vieira de Sa at number six.
Mariia Iordanova scored a win at number two in a 6-1, 6-2 decision. Corbalan clinched the win for the Tigers by snatching a 6-1, 6-2 win over Alicia Owegi.
