Former Wisconsin standout linebacker Chris Orr joins the Jackson State staff for his first year 2024.
Orr joins the Jackson State staff as an assistant coaching linebackers after playing in 50 career games for the Badgers from 2015-19, serving as the Director of Player Development at Wisconsin in 2021, while also pursing a professional football career since completing his career at UW in 2019.
He totaled 187 tackles in his career, with 20 for a loss and 14 sacks, totaling two picks, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 10 pass break-ups. He started all 14 games in his senior season as a team captain in 2019, with 79 tackles, 14 TFLs and 11.5 sacks, owning eight QB hurries.
A native of DeSoto, Texas, Orr was coached in 2015 by Dave Aranda as his DC and position coach at Wisconsin, his last season with UW before joining the LSU staff.
Orr played with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and was the Director of Player Development at Wisconsin in 2021.
He has been drafted by the New Jersey Generals in the USFL in 2022, and the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL dispersal draft in 2024.
He comes from a decorated football family as his father is two-time Super Bowl Champion tight end Terry Orr, two brothers, Zach and Nick, played professional football and Zach is the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, which followed an All-Pro career with the ravens from 2014-16. Zach played for the Ravens and collegiately at North Texas, brother Terrance played at Texas State and Nick played collegiately at TCU.
