Jack Nance joins the Jackson State University football staff in 2025 as a Football Analyst specializing in linebackers, bringing experience coaching multiple defensive position groups and a proven track record in recruiting, player development, and football operations.
Nance previously served as a Graduate Assistant at Texas Southern University, coaching defensive backs and defensive linemen. He managed scout team operations, opponent scouting, offensive tendency breakdowns, and practice scheduling, contributing to First Team All-SWAC cornerback Mikado Hinson’s development and a special teams unit ranked No. 1 in the SWAC and No. 24 nationally in FCS kickoff returns. In recruiting, Nance evaluated high school, junior college, and transfer portal talent, maintained the defensive recruiting board, and helped secure a 2025 recruiting class ranked No. 2 in the SWAC, focusing on Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding areas.
Beyond coaching, Nance served as TSU’s on-campus summer housing director, overseeing football player housing and coordinating daily operations with the residential director.
A Houston native and Clear Lake High School graduate, Nance was a standout at Texas Southern Universitiy, earning four Phil Steele All-SWAC selections, serving as a one-time team captain and two-time leadership council member, and receiving five varsity letters in football and two in track and field. Academically, he earned Academic All-SWAC, SWAC Commissioner’s List, and Dean’s List honors. Nance holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Texas Southern (2023) and is pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Leadership.
