Abram Muhammad

Dr. Abram Muhammad currently serves as the Assistant Director for Stadium Operations and also serves on the field as the Football Communication Manager.

He earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University, his M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration and Doctorate in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Homeland Security from Saint Leo University, and his Doctorate in Divinity from the Frederick L. Ray Biblical Institute on the campus of Virginia State University.

An Honorable Discharge Combat Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and former Police Officer, Dr. Muhammad embodies service, discipline, and leadership. He dedicated ten years to the City of Jackson Parks & Recreation Department, culminating in his appointment as Director, where he oversaw all aspects of the city’s parks and recreation system. His responsibilities included strategic management of parks, athletic fields, gyms, community centers, aquatics, golf courses, programming, zoo operations, and numerous citywide recreation and entertainment initiatives.

During his tenure, Dr. Muhammad implemented innovative programming and community engagement strategies, expanded youth development initiatives, led wellness and fitness programs, and managed multimillion-dollar budgets and contracts. His leadership elevated operational efficiency, increased participation in recreational services, and strengthened public-private partnerships, leaving a lasting positive impact on the quality of life for residents.

Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, His journey reflects a lifelong commitment to service and education. He is a National Recreational and Parks Association Professional, the incoming Mississippi Recreation and Park Association’s District II- Vice President, served in both the Chaplin’s Department for the City of Jackson Police Department, and he and his daughter Najla Muhammad were Jackson State University’s first father and daughter duo to graduate The W.E.B. Du Bois- Maria Luisa Alvarez Harvey Honors College together.

Dr. Muhammad is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and is married to Tracy Muhammad and together they have nine children and nine grandchildren.
