Lasonia Elliott joined the Jackson State University staff in August 2015, serving as the Administrative Assistant to the President of the University. Four years later, in July 2019, she was promoted to the position of Executive Assistant to the Vice-President/Director of Athletics.
In her current role, Elliott oversees the day-to-day operations of the athletics department, including setting and managing the daily schedule and calendar for the Vice-President/Director of Athletics, managing the game and hotel contracts for all sports, managing other agreements for the Division of Athletics, notarizing documents, assisting with game planning, answering telephone calls and directing them to the appropriate staff members, and managing staff operations.
Prior to gaining employment at Jackson State, Elliott worked at Jackson Oncology Associates from August 2000 to 2015 and served as Medical Records Auditor. Her duties included, but were not limited to, overseeing patient records for six doctors before consultation as well as for existing patients, daily chart auditing, and retrieving records from other physician facilities before patients came to the oncologist.
A native of Jackson, Miss., Elliott earned an Associate of Arts degree from Hines Community College in 2019. She will be furthering her education at Jackson State in the fall of 2024.
