Lori Hampton

Lori Hampton is one of the veterans of the Jackson State University Division of Athletics staff, having worked in the program since February 2001. Her 23-year stint currently sees her excel in the position of Administrative Assistant for the athletics program.

Hampton’s duties entail a wide range of responsibilities, including assisting athletics administrators and staff in general, and scheduling and arranging appointments for the Vice-President/Director of Athletics and Head Football Coach in particular. She also provides supervision, training and evaluation of graduate assistants, undergraduate work-study students, film students and equipment managers.

With extensive knowledge of NCAA, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Title IX and American Disabilities Act (ADA) rules and regulations, Hampton assists the athletics program in creating and implementing departmental rules and writing and preparing various reports, including  monthly budgets and yearly scholarship reports. She processes requisitions, purchase orders and payments for the athletics program, including payroll, and maintains departmental inventory, purchasing and travel paperwork.

On game days, Hampton monitors suites and assists with stadium and game day preparations.

Prior to joining the JSU staff, Hampton  worked as Computer Lab Manager/Teacher Assistant for North Jackson Elementary School in Jackson, Miss. from 1996-2000. She previously worked at Woodville Heights Elementary School in Jackson as Teacher Assistant (1994-95) and at  the Hinds County Tax Collector’s Office as Tag Clerk.

Hampton volunteers as Adult Advisor for the JSU chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as Tutor Member for AmeriCorps while also assisting with the Volunteer Food Network. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Interdisciplinary Studies (2009) and a Master’s Degree in Sports Science/Sports Management (2012), both from Jackson State.
