Rafael Ordaz

Rafael Ordaz currently serves as Jackson State University’s Assistant Athletics Director for Fiscal Management, a role he was promoted to in July 2023. In that role, he oversees the Division of Athletics budgets and monitors all revenue generated by the athletics program as well as all expenses incurred.
 
As Assistant Athletics Director for Fiscal Management, Ordaz holds the responsibility of compiling data for various required NCAA annual financial reports, including the Equity in Athletics Report (EADA), the NCAA Financial Report and the Sports Sponsorship Report.
 
Ordaz began working at Jackson State in 2015, when he was hired as an Athletics Academic Advisor. Two years later, in 2017, he was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics Academic Advising. In 2020, he transitioned out of academics, becoming JSU’s Athletics Business Manager.
 
Ordaz was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and he came to the United States in Fall 2008 on a baseball scholarship at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. He later transferred to Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa in 2010, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance two years later. Ordaz graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors.
 
In 2013, Ordaz moved to Jackson, Miss., where he started working on a Master’s Degree at Jackson State. In Spring 2015, he earned a Master of Science degree in Sports Management.
 
Ordaz, who is married to the former Andre Guedez, holds memberships in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the Collegiate Athletics Business Management Association (CABMA).
